"Peter" has some thoughts about hurricane coverage by Fox News.
I was watching Fox News this morning, as I do most mornings, to get a glimpse of what’s going on in the world. I was dumfounded by the scene of a Fox “weather reporter” leaning into 120mph winds, gusting to 150mph, as he described for his viewers what they could clearly see for themselves. It seemed to me uncalled for drama at the risk of the reporter, Robert Ray, getting his head and body bashed in by flying debris. It isn’t as if a Cat 4 hurricane weren’t dramatic enough already!
I had thought that the producers at Fox News were made of straighter stuff, but I was wrong. Many people who have trudged out into hurricane winds have been carried back on a litter, including first responders. What was going through Mr. Ray’s mind as he risked his life for a cheap shot that virtually all of his viewers would see as gilding the lily?
Please, Fox News, you’re better than that.
